The best protein powders in Australia?

I was at the annual Fitness & Health Expo in Sydney recently, and the first thing that stood out to me was the amount of protein powders competing with each other claiming to be the best protein powders in Australia.

What was even more fascinating was the amount of money these companies were spending to try and out compete each other.

Make no doubt about it, the protein powder industry is big business here in Australia.

The Sydney Morning Herald wrote a great article on the event saying –

“If Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar was still alive he’d be wondering if he got into the right industry, because in 2011, protein shakes, powder and bars are quite the money earner, not to mention totally legal.

Everybody wants protein, but do people know why we even need protein? The quick science of why your muscles need protein is because during a training session, muscle fibres tear under stressful loads, or weights. Protein fixes those tears, which allows the muscle to repair and build.”

But the first question I feel one should ask themselves is, not which one is the best protein powder, but do these heavily hyped and marketed protein powders actually work?

The fitness industry seems to tout oversized chiseled muscles and deeply tanned skin.

Whatever happened to health?

The SMH goes onto say – “So be careful when asking that mega-man that resembles a kyphotic Marvel comic villain about protein requirements…he may have used something a bit naughtier than protein to get that look.

Regardless of my sentiments, the industry will continue to grow as people covet bulging biceps and perfectly toned abs shown on glossy pages next to the 2.5kgs tubs of protein powder.

Just do a little bit of research to understand what your body needs, and what chemicals you are putting into it. And remember, a glass of milk, a chicken breast sandwich, and Tassie salmon on veggies still work just fine.”

So if you are wondering which is the best protein powder in Australia to buy, do your research and think twice before you make a purchase.

This is the very reason why 180 Natural Protein SuperFood was created. Being able to improve your health and nutrition from a real food resource at your convenience.
