How I Kicked A Sugar Habit By Doing This One Thing

Content by: 180 Nutrition

Guy: I love hearing these stories! At this years CrossFit Regional Games, a gentleman by the name of Craig (pictured here) wandered up to our 180 stall & told us how 180 Ambassador Chad Mackay’s morning coffee & 180 Protein hit helped him kick one of his big sugar habits… Awesome! So we asked if he would mind sharing his story with our readers.

Ps. Coinsedently, Craig’s surname is Mackay too, but no relation 🙂

Craig Mackay: Prior to seeing Chad’s video of his 180 Superfood drink with a shot of coffee I had an extremely bad habit of drinking at least one Iced Coffee per day. Some days even drinking 2 of the large 750ml bottles. And when you take into account that each large Iced Coffee has 71.g of sugar its wasn’t the best habit to have. I needed too, and more importantly wanted to kick the habit! So when I saw Chad’s video it gave me a much healthier alternative, so I took his idea and ran with it.

Now not only have I completely stopped my sugar loaded Iced Coffee intake and the sugar that comes with it but I have also found another way to get more protein and the other benefits that 180 superfood gives me while still enjoying my ‘Coffee’. This has also given me the desire to make changes to the rest of my diet and I can honestly say it’s one of the best moves I have made. My energy levels are up, there’s no afternoon fade out and I feel 100% better than I previously ever did. It’s great to be addicted to something I know is much healthier 🙂

Chad Mackay: It’s great to hear my morning ritual has generated a bit of hype and helped Craig get off those iced coffees! Most mornings I’m on the run to get to training or coaching – So to kickstart the day I enjoy my morning coffee with mixing in some 180 Natural Protein. It honestly tastes great and I also get a protein hit pre-training. I use Nespresso, purely from a taste perspective.

As busy as our lives can be, ultimately eating healthy is a lifestyle choice. Without a doubt education is key and by making simple shifts in our thinking when it comes to food, it can have a massive long term effect on ones overall long term health too. What Craig has done is a great example of this! One simple choice to change a habit and instantly all that sugar has been reduced.

Those of us with 9-5 (if not more) jobs, can often get caught out and we end making poor nutritional choices. But with a bit of planning and organisation, it is possible. And office workers are not alone. As well as an athlete, I’m a business owner. Each day is varied yet busy with a mix of running classes at my gym, personal training coaching and getting in some training myself. This all made possible with a solid foundation of healthy daily nutritional choices.

Do you have any healthy quick fixes that you use? Love to hear them… Guy

A lot of people say they have trouble with night time sweet treats. Do you think this would be a good alternative ??

Not a good idea for night time. The caffeine would/might keep you awake. Angela 🙂
