I could have really done with these delicious low carb treats flying back from the UK this week. Sadly though I’m not sure any airline would know what a healthy high protein low carb recipe would look like! Flying there was fine as I was all prepared with my little low carb protein snacks in the shape of the 180 balls. I then ploughed through the tub I took with me whilst in the UK, leaving me to come unstuck on my flight home… and there’s me thinking I was prepared!
Ingredients
- 4 egg whites
- 3/4 cup almond meal
- 1/2 cup 180 Natural Protein Powder (Coconut)
- Orange zest from at least one orange
- 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
- 3/4 cup almonds
Making the Low Carb 180 Almond Bread
Beat the egg whites until stiff. Then fold in the almond meal, 180 natural protein powder, almonds, orange zest and vanilla. Spoon mixture into a loaf tin lined with baking paper. Bake at 180 degrees for 25-30 min until pale brown.
Tip loaf out and allow to cool completely. You must then store in an airtight container for at least 12 hours.
After storing, use a very sharp knife and cut loaf into thin slices. Place slices onto a non greased baking tray and bake at 150 degrees for about 12 mins or until lightly brown.
And viola!! Enjoy.
Would love to hear from you all on the blog as to how you go with this or any other recipe or ideas you may have.

Where can one buy the almond meal/flour from, do you know, please? I have been looking for both that and coconut flour, to no avail.
Hi Michael.. I’m not sure where you are based, but I buy a lot of my goods from 7th Heaven Wholefoods in Randwick, Sydney. They do have an online shop too. You will find though, many of the supermarkets are starting to stock it….. Hope this helps… Guy
Yum!! Thanks Guy. I’m going to share this with my ladies…
You’re welcome Kylie! Love these 🙂
I was just wondering how many servings this makes, thank you:)
Hi Emma,
This quantities makes a full loaf tin size and when you slice it up, before toasting it, you probably get about 24 slices.
I must make some more myself! It’s delicious 🙂
I’m baking this now! Yum!!!! Excited to taste them when done 😉
