Author Bio - Nicole Bijlsma

This podcast features Healthy Home Expert, Nicole Bijlsma who is a building biologist, bestselling author (Healthy Home Healthy Family), and CEO of the Australian College of Environmental Studies (RTO 21740) which she established in 1999 to educate people about the health hazards in the built environment. Nicole established the Building Biology industry in Australia following two events in her life: first when she began to notice many of her patients were sick following exposure to a water-damaged building (mould) and secondly, after personally experiencing ten miscarriages which she believes arose from sleeping near a meter panel in her home. Nicole was a former naturopath and acupuncturist, who has lectured at tertiary institutions for 30 years, has published in peer reviewed journals, has written for Body+Soul newspaper, is regularly consulted by the media to discuss mould, electromagnetic fields and toxic chemicals, and is frequently an invited speaker at medical conferences both in Australia and abroad (New Zealand, USA, Thailand) about environmental health issues. Nicole and her husband Mark manufacture the Abode cleaning product range which was developed for people with skin and chemical sensitivities.
